1. Changing economic structure
- Over the past time, Nha Be has had a remarkable transformation with the growth rate of over 12.14%. In which, the service industry had the highest rate of 12.53%.
- The district's agricultural land area currently accounts for only 3%. In the future, Nha Be will no longer have agricultural land.
- By 2020, the average income is nearly 68 million VND/person/year (the target is 60 million), the poor families only account for 0.41% and the near poor families are around 0.72%.
These are favorable factors that help the process of Nha Be development quickly.
2. Investing significantly in infrastructure
Currently, Nha Be has 15 transportation projects under and about to start construction. In which:
- Nguyen Huu Tho street is expanded from Nguyen Van Linh Street to end of the intersection of south Ba Chiem bridge connecting to the seaport cluster - the industrial park - the urban area of Hiep Phuoc port with a scale of 6 lanes and a total investment of 8,470 billion.
- The intersection of Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho started in April 2020 with a system of underground tunnels, 3-storey overpasses with a capital of nearly 5,000 billion VND, this will solve traffic jams of the Ring road 3 as well as facilitating the operation of Hiep Phuoc port cluster (Nha Be district) and residents.
- North-South backbone project (Road 15B) connecting the central area with District 4, District 7 and Nha Be District is estimated over 8,500 billion VND. The end point of Road 15B will be the starting point of Can Gio bridge in the future. When completed, this road will open a new direction of traffic from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to the South and vice versa (instead of going to the direction of overloaded Kenh Te Bridge).
- The route D1 is planned to build to reduce pressure on Nguyen Huu Tho street, from the under road of Ong Lon bridge on Nguyen Van Linh to D6 and D1 streets in Him Lam residential area. In the future, when combined with the Nguyen Khoai Bridge connecting District 7, 4 and 1, this will be the main route connecting Saigon South with the city center.
- Long Hau road is expanded to 40m, connecting directly from Nguyen Van Tao - Nguyen Huu Tho street to Phu My Hung and city center.
- Ben Luc - Nha Be - Long Thanh Highway links the East and the West of HCMC, it is expected done in 2021.
- Thu Thiem bridge no.4 is over 2.1 km long with 6 lanes. When being completed, it will also relieve traffic pressure from Binh Thanh and Thu Duc district to districts 7, 8, Binh Chanh, Nha Be.
- Metro line no.4 is estimated at more than 97,000 billion VND going through District 12, Go Vap District, Phu Nhuan District, District 3, District 1, District 4, District 7 and Nha Be District to transport passengers along the the most densely populated area of the city, passing Ben Thanh area along the North-South axis.
- The project of upgrading and expanding Huynh Tan Phat street is being urgently implemented and expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
- Le Van Luong road is being upgraded and expanded from Long Kieng bridge to Nhon Duc commune People's Committee, and Long Thoi junction (Nhon Duc commune, Nha Be commune) together with building four new bridges. This will be the gateway connecting to Long An province.
- Phuoc Loc Bridge was completed on October 12, 2020, connecting the two communes of Phuoc Kien and Phuoc Loc.
- The project of a bridge spanning Cay Kho canal connecting Binh Chanh and Nha Be district will be started by the end of this year.
- Long Kieng bridge is about to speed up the construction connecting Phuoc Kien and Nhon Duc commune.
- Can Gio Bridge connects Nha Be and Can Gio districts with eastern and southwestern provinces
- Binh Khanh bridge is going to be build connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with southern areas to break the unique position of the overloaded Binh Khanh ferry. It is expected to replace Binh Khanh ferry with 5.8km long; speed of 60km/hour, 40m wide with 6 lanes. The first point connects Road 15B (Nguyen Luong Bang extended street) and the end point connects Rung Sac road.
To attract investors, the district has planned following lands:
- 166ha in Long Thoi commune with the orientation of being a green tourist park
- The development of supporting industries and logistics terminals in Long Thoi commune (adjacent to Ben Luc - Long Thanh Highway, Nguyen Huu Tho street)
- The university village is about 116ha and the high-tech medical center is about 41.9ha in Long Thoi commune
- 50 ha in Nhon Duc commune with the potential for developing cemetery.
- Advantages to exploit waterways that can connect Bach Dang, Can Gio wharf and provinces in the East and South West
